Net Zero Forum Well Attended By Cq Region

Colin Boyce MP

More than 130 people from all over the Central Queensland region attended a Net Zero Forum in Biloela hosted by the Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce.

Mr Boyce said the crowd had the opportunity to hear from a wide range of speakers including neighbours to proposed renewable energy sites, wildlife carers, energy experts as well as presentations by Senator Matthew Canavan and Conservationist and nature photographer Steven Nowakowski.

"We heard from inspiring speakers such as the Tenacious Ten who have been fighting the proposed Smoky Creek and Guthrie's Gap solar and BESS project for over seven years," Mr Boyce said.

"They highlighted the soil impacts and the need for protection of agricultural land, while sharing their mental health battles and the community division that this project has caused.

"We also listened to Michelle Hunt's incredible treatment by the solar farm on her fenceline, that continues to breach their Development Application with the council and remains unpunished despite trespassing on her land 15 months ago.

"I also had the opportunity to highlight a report conducted by the Institute of Public Affairs that the Flynn electorate will be hit the hardest if Australia continues down the path of Net Zero by 2050.

"Over 16,000 jobs - or 24% of the workforce - in the electorate of Flynn will be put at risk due to these emissions targets which are destroying Australia's prosperity while lowering our standard of living.

"These are the real costs of the Net Zero policies. The loss of jobs in our regions.

"Central Queensland is feeling the brunt of Labor's reckless renewables rollout and have clearly had enough of being steam rolled by a city centric Government and by overseas renewable energy developers."
