New accessible amenities - Mosman

New accessible toilets at Mosman Junction are now open.

The amenities, adjacent to the Raglan Street West Carpark, were partly funded by a NSW Government 'My Community Project' grant.

The 'My Community Project' program invited residents to apply for funding for projects that would benefit their local community in one or more of six categories: accessibility, culture, health, liveability, revitalisation and safety. Members of Mosman's Access and Mobility Committee worked together last year to develop a grant application and promote the accessible amenities project to their fellow residents.

Projects that met the selection criteria were published online for a public vote, and the project or projects from each NSW electorate that received the most votes received funding. The accessible toilets project was one of 12 submitted from the North Shore electorate, and received overwhelming support from the Mosman community. A grant of $200,000 was subsequently provided by the NSW Government for this project and Mosman Council, as sponsor, provided supplementary funding and delivered the project within 12 months.

The new amenities are an important addition to Mosman's accessible infrastructure, and include family-friendly, ambulant and unisex toilets, as well as a drinking water fountain.
