New and improved facilities for Kingston Heath Reserve

Strong participation growth and increased demand for playing space will see the Liberals and Nationals contribute $1 million to the delivery of new facilities at Kingston Heath Reserve in Cheltenham.

Currently home to multiple sporting clubs, Kingston Heath Reserve acts as a major recreation hub, with both basketball and tennis courts, as well as cricket, football, baseball and hockey fields dotted through the leafy reserve.

The Southern United Hockey Club operates from the reserve, fielding over 35 teams in junior, men's, women's and masters' competitions as a home ground.

The $1 million contribution will see the delivery of a brand new fenced synthetic hockey field. The reserve will also be reconfigured, with the cricket field and nets to be replaced with new facilities.

Member for South Eastern Metropolitan Region, Gordon Rich-Phillips, said thisannouncement will go a long way towards meeting the needs of the Cheltenham community.

"It is great to see so much growth in hockey from the local community and I'm proud to be here and support our Candidate for Clarinda for today's announcement."

Liberal Candidate for Clarinda, Anthony Richardson, said he understands the importance of spaces like Kingston Heath Reserve have on people's physical health and mental wellbeing.

"Kingston Heath Reserve is such a valuable asset for the community and I'm glad we can announce this, while preserving its natural amenity for decades to come."
