New Author Announced For One Book One Wagga 2026

Join the Wagga Wagga City Library on 10 July to celebrate One Book One Wagga 2026 with multi-award-winning investigative journalist and author Louise Milligan.

One Book One Wagga is the region's largest book club involving hundreds of locals who read the same novel by an Australian author, then spend an evening with the author at a gala event.

This year the book is Louise Milligan's Shellybanks, a deeply personal story set in her native Ireland, exploring trauma, family history, and the hidden lives of women shaped by church and culture.

THE AUTHOR: the Australian author selected for this year's One Book One Wagga is multi-award-winning investigative journalist and author Louise Milligan.

Outreach Services Team Leader Wendy Harper said the event is a night of friendly discussion about the book with input directly from the author.

"One Book One Wagga is a popular annual event as it is essentially one big book club event, bringing people together through the joy of reading," Ms Harper said.

"It's perfect for book lovers and also for those who are perhaps looking to start reading or join a book club but aren't sure if it's for you.

"The library has plenty of copies of Shellybanks available to borrow, and when you have finished reading it you get to join fellow readers and the author to engage in conversation about the book."

One Book One Wagga 2026 will be held at the Riverina Playhouse on Friday 10 July at 7.30pm.

After the event there will be drinks and canapés and the chance for everyone to mingle with fellow book lovers and meet Louise Milligan.

Tickets are on sale now via the Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre website.
