New Book Clubs For Kids At Dubbo Library

Macquarie Regional Library is launching three new book clubs in 2026 at the Dubbo Library specifically for children and young people.

These three new book clubs are free to join and aim to bring young people together, allow them to share their favourite reads and enjoy some fun challenges and activities together.

The book clubs are for the following ages:

  • Story Seekers Book Club for ages 9 – 11, meet the second Tuesday of each month from 4pm – 5pm
  • Page Turners Book Club for ages 12 – 14, meet the third Tuesday of each month from 4pm – 5pm
  • Next Chapter Book Club for ages 15 – 18, meet the fourth Tuesday of each month from 4pm – 5pm.

Macquarie Regional Library Children's and Young People's Services Officer Suzie Samson said book clubs for adults are extremely popular both within the library setting and social groups with friends.

"We wanted to create a similar opportunity for children and young people to come together in a casual setting and share their books with others.

"Children will select their own book to read each month for the book club and then come together to share what they enjoyed about the book. It's a great opportunity for children to discover other books their peers recommend and explore new authors and titles.

"Each month we will talk about our favourite books, spark our imaginations with some creative challenges, and eat snacks.

"Starting later this month, the new book clubs are perfect for both the avid reader as well as those young people looking to read more this year," Ms Samson said.

Children and young people can drop in to their book club session each month - there is no booking required.
