New bus stop at Raintrees Shopping Centre

Council will build a new $2 million bus stop to replace the existing facility at Raintrees Shopping Centre.

Funded by TransLink and administered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, the $2.05 million bus stop will be located on the Koch Street frontage to Raintrees Shopping Centre.

It will include two large bus shelters, a bus turnaround facility at the Koch Street and Keeble Street intersection, centre lighting and upgraded traffic signals, including a dedicated bus only right turn bay on the Alfred Street and Koch Street intersection.

A report to Council identified the existing bus stop – located in the rear car park of Raintrees Shopping Centre – needs upgrading and as busses are required to traverse through the private shopping carpark it also creates additional congestion.

The new bus stop works will include a $150,000 Council-funded pavement rehabilitation program.
