New Chair And Board Members Appointed To Lead SBDC

Three new additions to the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) Board have been announced, with the new appointments bringing firsthand experience and insight to support small business across Western Australia.

Highly regarded regional business leader Sharni Foulkes will join the Board as Chair, while Amit Khullar and Adam Grizich have been appointed as Board members for three-year terms.

Mrs Foulkes, a recent 40under40 winner, is the chief executive officer of the Broome Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

She has also served in a voluntary capacity on the Goldfields Women Building Business, LoKal Hub, and Dream Big Corporation, as well as being the WA lead for Sustainable Economic Growth for Regional Australia.

Amit Khullar is the director and co-Founder of Wevolt Pty Ltd, an app for electric vehicle users to locate and manage chargers. Mr Khullar is a member of the Ministerial Multicultural Advisory Group and serves on the Multicultural Advisory Groupat The Kids Research Institute Australia.

Adam Grizich is a successful owner of an independent butcher's shop in Kwinana and co-founder of social enterprise Nick's Jerky, which raises funds to support mental health organisations. Mr Grizich has significant experience in franchising as a former franchise owner and new franchisee trainer for the Lenard's chicken franchise.

Sharni Foulkes and Amit Khullar will commence their terms on 1 June and Adam Grizich on 1 July 2025.

As stated by Small Business Minister Jackie Jarvis:

"Small business is an essential driver of the WA economy, and the Cook Labor Government is committed to supporting small businesses thrive in a changing operating landscape as we continue to diversify the economy.

"The SBDC has a great legacy of helping WA business owners and the addition of Sharni, Amit and Adam to the Board with their combined experience and knowledge in regional small business, new technology, multicultural communities and local business will benefit small business across WA.

"Appointing Board members with diverse small business expertise and experience brings renewed energy and new perspectives to SBDC, ensuring WA small businesses are supported, represented and assisted to capitalise on opportunities that are presented by the growth of our State and our nation-leading economy.

"This year, the SBDC will deliver the Cook Government's Small Business Growth Grants and these additions to the Board will make a valuable contribution to the successful delivery of this new program."
