New Charges Filed in Deniliquin School Fire Case

Police have laid further charges following a high school fire in Deniliquin last week.

About 12.45am on Saturday 29 November 2025, emergency services were called to reports of a building alight at a school on Harfleur Street, Deniliquin.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews worked to extinguish the fire, which caused major damage to multiple buildings.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Officers attached to Murray River Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Soderblom.

On Monday 1 December 2025, detectives from Strike Force Soderblom charged two teenage boys – aged 16 and 15 – in Deniliquin area. They remain before the court.

Following further inquiries, the older boy was arrested in Deniliquin for additional charges.

He was taken to Deniliquin Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence and destroy/damage property in company less than or equal to $2000.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Children's Court on Wednesday 10 December 2025.
