The Minister for Skills, Training and Industrial Relations, Michael Pettersson, today announced the appointment of Mr Thomas Rogers as Chair of the CIT Board and Professor Kylie Walker AM as Deputy Chair, highlighting the critical skills and strategic expertise they bring at a pivotal time for the vocational education and training (VET) sector.
With combined extensive experience in national governance, organisational reform, science, technology and innovation, Mr Rogers and Professor Walker will play a central role in driving the initiatives of the National Skills Agreement and strengthening CIT's capacity to deliver the skills, innovation and industry partnerships that will shape a resilient, future-ready workforce for Canberra.
Mr Rogers will commence as Chair on 31 March 2026, with Professor Walker to begin her term as Deputy Chair on 1 September 2026.
"Mr Rogers and Professor Walker bring exceptional leadership, expertise and a strong commitment to public service," Minister Pettersson said.
"Their appointments will help guide CIT through an ambitious period of growth and transformation, ensuring it continues to play a central role in preparing Canberra's future workforce.
"Mr Rogers' decades of experience in governance, capability building and organisational reform will be invaluable to the Board, and I look forward to the steady and strategic leadership he will bring to CIT.
"Professor Walker's influence in science, technology and innovation will support CIT to deepen its work in future focused industries and ensure more Canberrans can access high-quality, equitable training pathways."
The Minister also paid tribute to outgoing Chair, Kate Lundy, thanking her for her contribution.
"I would like to sincerely thank Ms Lundy for her dedicated leadership, and, in particular, for her stewardship of the new Woden Campus development. Her contributions have left a lasting legacy and positioned CIT strongly for the years ahead."
