Colac Otway Shire Council has installed two new Digital Information Screens in Memorial Square and Colac Unearthed (Visitor Information Centre), providing a modern and accessible way for locals and visitors to connect with the region.

These large, interactive touchscreens offer 24/7 up‑to‑date information on local attractions, walking trails, facilities, and services. They also provide a central platform to promote current events and activities across the Shire, helping people make the most of their time in Colac Otway.

Colac's Memorial Square and Colac Unearthed were selected as the location for the signs for their high visibility and strong visitor flow. These locations are natural stopping and gathering points where people seek information and plan their visit - making them ideal sites to support and enhance the visitor experience.

The new screens form part of Council's broader work to improve visitor communication, activate key public spaces, and promote Colac Otway as a welcoming and vibrant destination. This initiative complements ongoing efforts to share local stories, highlight community activities, and strengthen the region's visitor appeal.

Council's General Manager Community and Economy, Ian Seuren said "These screens put clear, reliable and easy‑to‑access information exactly where visitors and locals need it most. They make it simpler for people to discover what's on, explore our towns and enjoy everything our region has to offer."

"They also mark an important step in Council's broader work to activate our places and promote Colac Otway as a vibrant, welcoming destination. This is one of several initiatives designed to help people connect with our region in new and engaging ways," he said.

The first release of content is now live, with further updates planned throughout the year.

The project is supported through the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) Council Support Package - Stream 2 for Regional and Rural Councils.
