New Education Centre Open At Adelaide Holocaust Museum

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The Adelaide Holocaust Museum's Andrew Steiner Education Centre is now open after 18 months of renovations.

The Education Centre is the first part of the museum building to re-open following an extensive upgrade that significantly expands the museum's education and exhibition space, featuring purpose-built galleries for upcoming exhibits on Jewish culture and life, the Holocaust and antisemitism.

The Australian Government provided $2.5 million to support this important project.

The centre was officially opened by Mr Steve Georganas MP, Federal Member for Adelaide, and Ms Jillian Segal AO, Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism in Australia.

The mission of the Adelaide Holocaust Museum is to create a fairer and more compassionate world by inspiring visitors to acknowledge and address antisemitism, discrimination, racism and other hate.

The museum offers education programs about the Holocaust, antisemitism, and moral and ethical issues. Since opening in 2020, approximately 3000 students per year have visited the museum.

The first of three new permanent exhibitions at the museum, The Shoah, is scheduled to open to the public in the second half of 2026. Fundraising is underway to support the other two permanent exhibitions.
