New European Clay Courts Open At Meadowbank

Clay Courts at Meadowank

Two new European clay tennis courts have opened at Voyager Tennis Meadowbank. This new surface represents a significant upgrade to the local sporting facility and is expected to enhance the playing experience for the community.

The courts, located at the Constitution Road facility, were recently unveiled by City of Ryde Mayor Trenton Brown and Acting CEO John Angilley. The upgrade was delivered by Voyager Tennis in partnership with City of Ryde. Voyager Tennis who leases Meadowbank tennis facilities from Council.

Council endorsed the initiative following a consultation process with the facility users which indicated a majority support for the proposal. Voyager Tennis then led and managed the conversion of two existing hard courts to clay, fully funding the project.

European clay courts support player development by encouraging longer rallies, higher ball bounce and more strategic play, offering a distinct alternative to traditional hard courts.

The installation is particularly notable, representing one of the first new clay court developments in Sydney in more than a decade.

Together with facility operators, Council is helping to ensure these spaces remain well maintained, future-ready and responsive to the growing needs of our community.
