Staff and students at The Lakes Christian College in Castlereagh will benefit from a new outdoor multi-purpose area, funded as part of the Morrison Government's Local Schools Community Fund Program.
Minister for Education and Youth Alan Tudge and Federal Member for Lindsay Melissa McIntosh today opened the outdoor multi-purpose area, providing students and staff with the new facilities to reach their full potential.
"This new, top-quality learning and recreational space will make a real difference in the daily lives of the students and teachers at The Lakes Christian College," Minister Tudge said.
"The Morrison Government invested $20,000 in this project which will give hundreds of students in The Lakes Christian College access to the best possible learning experience, so they have the best chance to excel.
"More than $30 million has been provided through the Local Schools Community Fund Program to support schools across the country fund necessary small-scale projects.
"The project is part of our record funding for Australian schools and will benefit not just current students, but those who study at The Lakes Christian College for years to come."
Ms McIntosh said students in our community deserve the best equipment and facilities for learning and play.
"Opening this outdoor area also opens more opportunities for students at The Lakes Christian College," said Ms McIntosh.
"We're investing through the Local Schools Community Fund to give local students the facilities and equipment they need to reach their full potential.
"We want to see more healthy, active living for our students and this upgrade means better spaces to get outdoors. I can't wait to see the students take full advantage of this fantastic outdoor area to learn and play."
