New four-year blueprint released

The City's draft Our Community Plan 2021-25 has been released for public feedback.

Our Community Plan is a new blueprint developed with the community to set strategic priorities for sustainable growth and development, a strong local economy, a healthy, caring and inclusive community, backed by a high-performing Council and organisation.

The release of the plan coincides with the publication of the Proposed Budget 2021-25, which is also being shared for community feedback.

Our Community Plan 2021-25 will direct decisions about policy, programs and resources and for the first time incorporates the Council's commitments in its municipal public health and wellbeing plan directly alongside strategic planning.

City of Greater Geelong Mayor Stephanie Asher said the Proposed Budget and Our Community Plan were designed to be cohesive and interconnected documents.

"Our Community Plan been developed in tandem with our Proposed Budget 2021-22 to ensure our investment decisions align with our strategic goals and that the community health, wellbeing and aspirations for our future are reflected in our financial planning," Mayor Asher said.

"Our Community Plan will help us deliver our commitment to sustainability across our social, environmental and financial responsibilities and also provide high quality services into the future."

Deputy Mayor Trent Sullivan said Our Community Plan set a strategic focus for Council over the next four years.

"This plan is a key strategic document that ensures we stay current and responsive to the region's evolving priorities and opportunities," he said.

Our Community Plan identifies four pillars that the Council will focus its efforts on over the next four years, always moving towards the 30-year vision:

o Healthy, caring and inclusive community

o Sustainable growth and environment

o Strong local economy

o High-performing council and organisation

"We look forward to hearing community feedback on how we're planning to build on each of these pillars," Deputy Mayor Sullivan said.
