Motorists looking for a convenient and free parking option for Monday's Anzac Day blockbuster between Hawthorn and the Sydney Swans can park at the new Northern Inveresk car park, accessed off Forster Street.

With 852 parking spaces — and direct pedestrian access to Gate 10 at UTAS Stadium — the Northern Inveresk Car Park is the most convenient parking option for AFL in Launceston, and will be free of charge on Anzac Day.

The Northern Inveresk Car Park has been developed collaboratively between the University of Tasmania and the City of Launceston to cater to the entire Inveresk Precinct, and the increase in demand generated by the $300m Northern Transformation project.

Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten said the Stadium was expecting a COVID-capacity crowd of 14,500 people to attend Monday's match.

"It's exciting to see AFL returning to Launceston for 2022 with a sold-out game," Mayor van Zetten said.

"This is going to be a fantastic start to Launceston's AFL season and a great shot in the arm for our local hospitality and accommodation businesses.

"We're also hoping people will avoid the hassle of getting a parking ticket by parking in the new Northern Inveresk car park, which will have free parking on Monday and is located just a short walk from Gate 10."

Gates open at 11am.

While masks are no longer mandatory, patrons are required to check in to the Stadium using the Check In Tas app.
