Andrew Wilsmore has started as the new General Manager for Dubbo Regional Council this week and is already getting straight into the role with his first Ordinary Council meeting tonight in Wellington.
Dubbo Regional Council General Manager Andrew Wilsmore has been meeting locals and exploring the region since arriving and said, the region is full of potential and Council plays an incredibly important role in realising the opportunities this will bring. I'm excited about this being a can-do Council where we are focussed on delivering real impact for the community we serve.
"My first day has been like the saying – drinking from a fire hydrant. There is a lot to get my head around and so many people to meet. I'm looking forward to my first Council meeting tonight in Wellington," Mr Wilsmore said.
"I would particularly like to thank the team and Councillors for the warm welcome. I've got a packed schedule, including visiting some of the facilities across the region and getting to know my new community more," Mr Wilsmore said.
Mr Wilsmore has been enjoying life in the Dubbo Region, attending the annual Dubbo Show on the weekend and seeing first-hand how events like it bring the community together.
"It was great to see the Dubbo Show really delivering for our region, with streets packed and business flourishing.
"Given my farming background, it was impressive to see the strong agriculture flavour to the event, as well as the great arts, crafts, foods, and family friendly activities on show.
Mr Wilsmore was previously the Chief Executive Officer at Alice Springs Town Council and was appointed to the role of General Manager at Dubbo Regional Council in March following a decision at an Extraordinary Council Meeting.
Interim General Manager Luke Ryan has now returned to his substantive role as Council's Director Infrastructure.
