Seven grants have been awarded under eSafety's Preventing Tech-based Abuse of Women Grants Program.
Through the program, non-government organisations can apply for grants of up to $500,000 to develop projects to stop technology being used to stalk, threaten, control or other violent and coercive behaviours toward women.
Grants under the current round of the program have been awarded to:
- Collingwood Football Club Community Foundation's major national campaign that seeks to establish awareness and understanding of tech-based abuse against women and children;
- Settlement Services International's project to co-design online safety resources relevant to CALD women and children; and
- The University of Melbourne's development of anti-online-harassment software, co-designed with girls and young women.
The grants are part of a package of measures in the 2022-23 October Budget, including $5 million to extend the National Online Safety Awareness Campaign, and $16.6 million for eSafety to develop a technology-facilitated abuse advisory service for victim-survivors and frontline workers.
