Major General Jeremy King co-chaired the annual Australia-France Bilateral Armaments Committee with France's International Director, Directorate General of Armament, Lieutenant General Gaël Diaz de Tuesta, marking one of his final engagements as Head Joint Aviation Systems Division.
The committee, which met in Canberra last month, reinforced Australia's commitment to the bilateral roadmap issued in 2023 and identified mutually beneficial defence industry and materiel opportunities.
"Australia and France are exploring initiatives to increase defence industry cooperation to support and deliver capabilities to our respective defence forces," Major General King said.
"Through increased dialogue, strategic exchanges and information sharing, we aim to strengthen our mutual understanding and enhance cooperation in response to our shared strategic challenges."
He handed the baton as Head Joint Aviation Systems Division to Air Vice-Marshal David Scheul, who said he was honoured to take on the role of co-chair.
The committee provides an opportunity to advance cooperation on areas of key strategic importance, such as space domain awareness. As part of this engagement, Lieutenant General Diaz de Tuesta visited Mount Stromlo for a capability demonstration.
