New kindergarten for fast-growing Donnybrook

Families in the rapidly growing Donnybrook area can look forward to a new kindergarten option close to home, with a two-room facility set to open in 2022 and already accepting applications.

The new kindergarten is proposed to be named Eucalyptus Parade Kindergarten and will be located at the Hume Anglican Grammar's Donnybrook campus, in Olivine Estate.

Administrator Chris Eddy said the facility was being constructed by the Department of Education and Training and the Victorian School Building Authority with support from Council, who will manage applications through its central enrolment system.

Mr Eddy said the project would give families in the fast-growing north greater access to essential services, with applications for three and four-year-old kinder in 2022 already open.

"Council is pleased to be welcoming so many new residents into Donnybrook, and the new kinder is an exciting service for the rapidly expanding population," Mr Eddy said.

"The new Donnybrook kinder will cater for the rising demand for three and four-year-old kinder in the suburb, where the population is expected to boom from about 2000 in 2021 to more than 52,000 in 2041."

Council will engage a kindergarten provider through an expression of interest process and is inviting community members to have their say on the proposed Eucalyptus Parade Kindergarten name.

Council is also building a new multi-purpose community centre on nearby Patterson Drive, which is expected to open in 2025 and will feature additional kindergarten rooms plus space for Maternal and Child Health services and spaces for community activities and programs.
