Attorney-General, Guy Barnett, today announced the appointment of Robert Hay KC as Chief Commissioner of the Integrity Commission.
A King's Counsel at the Victorian Bar, Mr Hay KC practises in commercial law.
"Mr Hay KC is an extremely well-credentialled Chief Commissioner. On behalf of the Government I welcome his appointment," the Attorney said.
Mr Hay began his legal career in 1987 after graduating from the University of Tasmania. He became a barrister at the Victorian Bar in 1992 and was appointed Queen's Counsel (now King's Counsel) in 2014. He has appeared in leading cases, co-authored major legal texts, and acted for the Commonwealth Government and advised the Victorian Government.
"This appointment reflects our Government's commitment to integrity, transparency and accountability," the Attorney said.
"Mr Hay KC brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Commission.
"I would also like to acknowledge the important work of Greg Melick AO KC's 10-year tenure as Chief Commissioner. I thank him for his years of service."
