Dads, stepdads, grandfathers and important male role models are invited to connect, learn, and share through a new community initiative launching on the Peninsula: Books, Blokes and Bubs.
Designed for men with children under four years of age, the program responds to a growing recognition of the important role fathers and male caregivers play in a child's development, along with the need for dedicated spaces where they can build connections and confidence.
Books, Blokes and Bubs offers a welcoming, relaxed environment where participants can spend quality time with their children while engaging with other dads and caregivers.
Each session will feature a relaxed morning with a free coffee, Storytime and the opportunity to connect with other like‑minded dads and father figures, alongside opportunities for shared play, and conversation.
This collaborative initiative has been developed through a partnership between Child and Family Health, Libraries, Positive Ageing and Community Partnerships, Wellbeing and Inclusion.
Mayor Cr Stephen Batty said "We know that fathers and male role models play a crucial role in a child's early development. Books, Blokes and Bubs provides a welcoming environment where they can feel supported and build confidence in their parenting journey."
The initiative also promotes early literacy through books and storytelling, while encouraging positive relationships and emotional connections within families.
By bringing together services and creating a welcoming environment, we're helping to strengthen families and build a more connected community.
