The NSW Government has appointed two new members to the Destination NSW Board, adding a wealth of government experience and industry expertise to support the state's visitor economy.
Former member for Barton The Hon. Linda Burney and Tom Malone will join the board on 1 June 2026 for a three-year term.
These new board appointees will play a vital role in driving sustainable tourism growth in NSW.
- Ms Burney is a trailblazing Australian leader whose decades of service have transformed Indigenous education, reconciliation and public policy. The first Aboriginal person elected to the NSW Parliament and the first Aboriginal woman elected to the House of Representatives, Linda has broken barriers at every level of public life. She played a pivotal role in developing NSW's first Aboriginal Education Policy, setting a national benchmark. Linda was the first Aboriginal woman appointed to Minister for Indigenous Australians and in that time championed reforms in health, education, housing, jobs and justice, cementing her legacy as one of Australia's most influential and respected advocates for First Nations people.
- Tom Malone is a highly respected media executive with extensive experience leading major media organisations and driving transformational change across complex businesses and divisions. With a deep understanding of audience behaviour, content consumption and the rapidly evolving digital economy, he has built a reputation for innovation, strategic leadership and commercial growth. Tom has significant expertise in sports broadcasting and media rights, particularly in the coverage of major sporting events including rugby league and cricket. He is currently a Director of Commercial Radio Australia and the Starlight Foundation NSW Advisory Board and was previously a Director of the Bradman Foundation.
Anna Guillan, a highly experienced non-executive Director and Chair, and respected tourism business leader returns to the Board for another three-year term.
Destination NSW is the NSW Government's tourism and major events agency, and champion and voice for the NSW visitor economy - an industry powerhouse in NSW, supporting over 118,000 businesses and more than 328,000 jobs, making it NSW's second largest services export earner.
