New officers sworn in at Townsville

Townsville is set to welcome 11 new Constables from the recent graduation, the culmination of six months of training.

The six men five women, come from diverse backgrounds including a park supervisor at SeaWorld, administration roles and an 'E-sports' competitive computer gamer.

Thew new officers have moved from southern parts of Queensland and across the border from NSW to serve the community.

They are part of a cohort of 106 recruits sworn in together and have undergone extensive training at the Police Academy with real-life scenarios to prepare them for the challenges of policing and will be posted to stations in and around the Townsville area.

Townsville Police Assistant District Officer, A/Superintendent Dean Cavanagh, said "The new officers would be introduced to the district at an orientation on Tuesday before heading out to their stations in the coming days.

They will be formally trained and mentored in every facet of regional policing over the next 12 months"
