Locals and visitors can now enjoy a safer journey between the Serpentine town centre and iconic Serpentine National Park, following the completion of a new shared access path.
Funded by a $1.5 million 2025 election commitment by the Cook Labor Government, 2.3km of new shared walking and cycling path has been delivered, establishing an important connection between the town centre and one of the region's most popular natural attractions.
The project includes 1.2km of new shared path connecting the Serpentine town centre along Wellard Street and Karnup Road to South Western Highway, strengthening links between schools, community facilities, local businesses and the wider path network.
A further 1.1km of shared path along Falls Road completes the link between the South Western Highway and the entrance to Serpentine National Park, providing a safe and accessible route for walkers, cyclists and mobility scooter users.
The investment improves safety for pedestrians and cyclists while encouraging more people to explore the region by foot or bike, supporting healthier lifestyles and increasing visitation to local businesses and tourism operators.
The project delivers on the Cook Labor Government's commitment to grow outdoor adventure tourism across the State by investing in infrastructure that connects communities with Western Australia's outstanding natural attractions.
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:
