  • City of Darwin has launched its new interactive Liveability Platform, and Place and Liveability Plan 2050.

  • Together, they provide a community-driven roadmap to guide a more sustainable, connected, and vibrant city.

  • The Plan was shaped by over 1,800 responses from residents, businesses, and local organisations.

City of Darwin has launched its brand-new interactive Liveability Platform, a digital tool where the community can come together to plan, engage, and shape our city now and into the future.

Serving as a consultation tool, residents can share feedback or suggest improvements to spaces in their neighbourhoods using liveability principles.

The new Platform forms part of the Place and Liveability Plan 2050, launched today after being endorsed by Council in October.

The community-led roadmap was designed to ensure decisions such as land use, development, funding, and future activities reflect what matters most to residents.

At its core, the Plan is about creating better experiences for people - safer streets, cooler and greener spaces, more vibrant neighbourhoods, and stronger community connections. It provides real, practical guidance and tools that can be used by schools, the community, government and business.

Lord Mayor Peter Styles said the Plan and Platform were shaped by extensive local input and reflect a shared vision for Darwin's future.

"For the first time, our community can see and explore the data, ideas and projects shaping Darwin's future," he said.

"It's a transparent way for people to stay informed, share feedback, and see how their input makes a real difference to forming a more inclusive and sustainable city for generations to come. We want residents to be part of the conversation," Mr Styles said.

More than 1,800 responses were received throughout the engagement process, representing input from residents, local businesses, community organisations, cultural groups, education and research institutions, and government agencies. Their feedback directly shaped the final outcomes and ensured a fair reflection from a broad cross-section of community perspectives, he said.

The Place and Liveability Plan 2050 builds on the City for People. City of Colours. 2030 Strategic Plan, marking the next major step toward a vibrant, cool, clean, safe and liveable Darwin.

"We're incredibly grateful to everyone who shared their insights and experiences," Mr Styles said.

"Their feedback directly informed the final Plan and helped ensure it truly reflects what matters most to our community."

Highlights of the Liveability Platform:

  • Explore neighbourhood data: Residents can view data and insights about open spaces, connectivity, safety and social infrastructure.

  • Have your say on public places: The platform allows community members to mark favourite local places, suggest improvements and provide input into planning decisions.

  • Track progress and feedback outcomes: Visibility on how community feedback is being used, how the city is progressing on liveability goals, and how projects aligns with the shared vision.
