New resources are available to support the design and implementation of Reef citizen science projects.
There are over 130 individual groups delivering Reef citizen science activities.
These activities play a vital role in the protection and management of the Reef. They include:
- monitoring
- reporting
- habitat restoration
- marine debris removal
The Australian Citizen Science Association (ACSA) has released new project resources. These are now available on the ACSA website and include:
- guidance to support sound design and implementation of citizen science projects
- citizen science data protocols and standards
- a list of scientific advisors that can support the work of citizen science programs
The resources are informed by past and ongoing Reef citizen science projects.
This work is funded by the Reef Trust. The Reef Trust is Australia's investment program to protect the Reef and support delivery of the Reef 2050 Plan.
