Rockdale Library marked a significant milestone on Saturday 1 August, celebrating its 10th anniversary with a day of family-friendly activities that recognised a decade of learning, creativity and community connection.
Children enjoyed a special Storytime session, a scavenger hunt, crafts and birthday cupcakes, while visitors explored local history displays, entered a community photo competition and reflected on the library's remarkable journey since opening at its current location in July 2016.
Over the past decade, Rockdale Library has welcomed more than 2.2 million visitors and delivered 1,448 programs for the community, supporting everyone from babies and young children through to teenagers, adults and seniors. The celebrations also included commemorative limited-edition library membership cards for new members who joined during July, along with exclusive anniversary library bags.
Today, Rockdale Library is far more than a place to borrow books. It has evolved into one of Bayside's most vibrant community hubs, offering Storytime and Toddler Time, author talks, technology classes, creative workshops, film screenings, meeting spaces, study areas and lifelong learning opportunities that bring people together every day.
Visitors also enjoyed a special exhibition showcasing the library's history on the ground floor, while the Secrets of the Local History Collection display on Level 2 featured a fascinating selection of rare and significant items celebrating Bayside's rich heritage.
As Rockdale Library begins its second decade, it continues to play an important role in enriching community life by inspiring a love of reading, supporting lifelong learning, encouraging creativity and providing welcoming spaces where people of all ages can meet, connect, learn and create.
