A South West premium marron producer has expanded its operations to become a new regional food and tourism destination, thanks to a Cook Labor Government grant.

The Capel Marron Farm, which opens today, now offers a unique pond-to-plate dining experience that allows visitors to enjoy fresh marron and other South West and Western Australian produce while overlooking the farm's marron ponds.

The expanded venue blends casual dining with immersive visitor experiences that showcase the iconic Western Australian marron, strengthening the farm's role as both a food producer and tourism attraction.

An interactive discovery centre is set to open in the coming months and will feature viewing tanks, a walking plank and closeencounter experiences, further enhancing the destination's appeal for locals and visitors alike.

The Capel Marron Farm will also be available for general functions and will provide a dedicated space for marron farmers to meet and connect, supporting greater collaboration and industry development across the region.

The farm operates a hatchery that supplies juvenile marron and feed to local producers before purchasing mature marron for sale into domestic and international markets. Its premium marron is supplied to highend restaurants, including venues in Melbourne, alongside other species produced at the farm such as Murray cod and silver perch.

The expansion was supported by a $147,280 Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant through Round 5 of the Cook Government program.

As stated by Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson:

"There are many RED Grant success stories across Western Australia, and this project is another strong example of how the program is helping local businesses turn good ideas into reality.

"Congratulationsto Capel Marron Farm, which through expanding its operations has created a new food and tourism destination that will contribute to jobs, regional growth and the WA visitor economy.

"This initiative highlights the Cook Government's commitment to backing regional businesses and supporting innovative and sustainable economic growth across WA."

As stated by South West Minister Don Punch:

"The Capel Marron Farm is set to become a genuine food and tourism destination for the South West, offering visitors a unique pondtoplate dining experience built around premium local produce.

"I was pleased to join Scott and Jordan to officially open this great new asset for Capel and the wider region, and to see their vision realised.

"This project shows what RED Grants are designed to do - support regional businesses to grow, create local jobs and make a lasting contribution to tourism and the regional economy."

As stated by Collie-Preston MLA Jodie Hanns:

"The Capel Marron Farm adds a fresh and exciting reason for visitors to stop, stay and explore the South West, showcasing the quality food experiences our region is becoming known for.

"With more people visiting the area, local businesses stand to benefit, strengthening the local economy and reinforcing the South West as a great place to live, work and visit."
