The new City of Fremantle's new Sporting Club Sponsorships program replaces the previous Sporting Club Assistance Grants Program and offers a simpler, sponsorship style approach that supports clubs while also creating value for the wider community. Local sport and recreation clubs are invited to apply, with applications open now until 28 February 2026.
Under the program, 20 local clubs will each receive a one-off $500 sponsorship to support a range of initiatives that help clubs grow, connect and thrive.
Funded initiatives may include:
- Club events such as come and try days or themed rounds and events of significance including NAIDOC Week or R U OK? Day
- Equipment or uniform purchases
- Promotion of the club
- Club development initiatives
The Sporting Club Sponsorships program operates on a partnership model. In return for City support, successful clubs will be asked to acknowledge the City of Fremantle as a club supporter and contribute basic information through the City of Fremantle Sporting Club Survey.
Pete Stone, Director Creative Arts and Community, said the new program was designed to be easier to access while supporting the important role local sporting clubs play in the community.
"Our local sporting clubs are the backbone of community life in Fremantle. This new sponsorship model makes it simpler for clubs to access support while strengthening partnerships between sport and recreation clubs and the City."
