It will be easier and faster for Victorians to access justice with the opening of the new, state‑of‑the‑art Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) headquarters.
Attorney-General Sonya Kilkenny today officially opened VCAT's new home.
It brings VCAT services under one roof alongside key services including Victoria Legal Aid, State Trustees and the Office of the Public Advocate.
Backed by a $106 million Labor Government investment, the new facility includes 41 hearing and mediation rooms, two Koori rooms and a dedicated vulnerable persons facility.
Boosting VCAT's capacity to hear matters sooner, will reduce waiting times and uncertainty, and deliver faster outcomes for Victorians.
VCAT resolves more than 75,000 cases every year, making it one of Victoria's most in-demand justice services.
New digital hearing and remote witness technology will expand access to virtual and hybrid hearings - saving Victorians time, cutting travel costs and helping ease cost‑of‑living pressures.
By bringing services together, Victorians can also get the help they need sooner - avoiding disputes escalating and becoming more expensive.
Secure access, safer waiting areas and improved accessibility will also ensure every VCAT user feels supported and protected.
The new headquarters is also home to Rental Dispute Resolution Victoria, a free service launched in 2025 to help renters and rental providers resolve disputes quickly.
VCAT staff began moving into the building last month, with full public services operating from Monday 30 March.
As stated by Attorney-General Sonya Kilkenny
"This new headquarters gives VCAT the space, technology and facilities it needs to better serve Victorians."
"By bringing services together in one modern location, we're making justice more accessible, safer and easier to use."
As stated by Minister for Consumer Affairs Nick Staikos
"From VCAT's new CBD headquarters, Rental Dispute Resolution Victoria is delivering faster, free dispute resolution for renters and rental providers."
As stated by the President VCAT Justice Ted Woodward
"Set in the heart of Melbourne and close to public transport, our new venue is equipped with modern technology that supports in-person, virtual and hybrid hearings reflecting the ways people engage with VCAT today".
