New Year, New Pakenham: Revitalisation Works To Restart

Construction has restarted on Stage 1 of the Pakenham Revitalisation project.

After pausing works for the festive period, the streetscape upgrade works have restarted on both sides of Drake Place, Pakenham.

To ensure these works are completed efficiently and safely, Drake Place will be closed to through traffic from the Main Street roundabout to the Railway Hotel car park entrance. Footpath detours will also be in place to redirect pedestrians.

The closure will be in place for up to four weeks, with traffic expected to be reinstated by early February 2026.

The works will deliver significant upgrades to improve safety, accessibility, and amenity in the area, including:

  • Pavement reconstruction and kerb upgrades
  • New and improved footpaths and pedestrian crossings
  • Drainage and service infrastructure improvements
  • Installation of new lighting, landscaping, and street furniture

Council will be working closely with the contractor and local businesses to maintain access throughout these works, and the community are encouraged to follow all onsite signage and directions from traffic controllers.

Council will be working to minimise disruptions to surrounding businesses during normal business hours, however, please understand that additional traffic, noise, and increased travel times may be experienced in the area.

We appreciate the community's patience as we work to revitalise Pakenham's town centre, and we apologise for any inconvenience that these works may cause.
