Ng Meets With Provincial, Territorial Trade Ministers

Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, concluded a productive meeting with counterparts as part of the yearly Federal-Provincial-Territorial Meeting for Ministers Responsible for International Trade.

At the meeting, the ministers discussed the deep and growing commercial relationship between Canada and the United States. Minister Ng reaffirmed her commitment to continue working closely with provinces and territories to address shared concerns and enhance North American competitiveness through trade. The Minister emphasized the importance of supporting rules-based trade to enhance competitiveness under the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement and Canada's ongoing to address unjustified U.S. duties on Canadian softwood lumber

Minister Ng highlighted the importance of with provinces and territories to help Canada expand tradeinvestment resilience .

Minister Ng also introduced Canada's recently appointed and first Canadian Indo-Pacific trade representative. As announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, this new role represents a major milestone of the Indo-Pacific Strategy and will help further facilitate and promote trade, investment and supply chain resilience between Canada and the region.

Minister Ng concluded the meeting by holding a round-table discussion and reaffirmed her commitment to working with each of her provincial and territorial counterpartsTeam Canada , ensuring that Canadian workers and businesses from coast-to-coast-to-coast benefit from Canada's growing global trade.
