Nightcliff Christmas events cancelled

Darwin City Council

City of Darwin wishes to advise that the Christmas events planned for tomorrow, Saturday 16 December 2023, at Nightcliff Foreshore have been cancelled due to wet weather.

As such, the Santa Fun on Wheels and Carols by the Sea events will not proceed.

City of Darwin Acting CEO, Alice Percy, apologised to the local community.

"Christmas falls in the middle of the wet season, and while the rain is great for our gardens, it is very unpredictable for outdoor events," Dr Percy said.

"In the interest of public safety and comfort, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the events at Nightcliff tomorrow.

"Santa's Village will continue to run in the Galleria, off the Smith Street Mall, offering free photos with Santa Claus, and there will be a range of additional free activities taking place across the city for the school holidays.

"Thank you for your understanding and we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year," she said.
