No leadership on Meat Industry Working Group from Liberals

Tasmanian Labor

The Chair of the Tasmanian Meat Industry Working Group (TMIWG), the Liberal MLC for Montgomery, needs to outline what - if anything - she has achieved in the six months since the group first met.

Shadow Minister for Primary Industries Shane Broad said industry leaders including those involved with the working group were keen to assist the Government but the Liberal Member was not showing the leadership required.

"Meat production in Tasmania is at a crossroads and the Liberal MLC for Montgomery is not showing any leadership," Dr Broad said.

"A day after she was unable to point to a single achievement in her first term, it is clear – if the work isn't being done for her, it isn't being done.

"Some terms of reference and commissioning a feasibility study are all there is to show for six months.

"The red meat industry is crying out for Government leadership yet is getting nothing from the Member for Montgomery.
