No licence no car, Invermay Park impound

Police from the State Highway Patrol have nabbed an alleged drug driver just days after his licence was cancelled.

Officers were performing duties in the Ballarat area as part of Operation Argus when they detected a Holden Sedan travelling at 120km/h in a 110 zone on the Western Freeway in Invermay Park about 9.50am.

The car was quickly intercepted and the 43-year old driver returned a positive road side drug test.

Things only got worse for the Delahey man when checks revealed his licence had been cancelled by a Magistrate only two days before.

His car was impounded at a cost of $1425.

The man is expected to be charged on summons with drug and other driving offences.

This impound forms part of Operation Argus, which focuses on impaired driving, motorcycles, excessive speed, driver distraction and not wearing seatbelts.

The state-wide operation will run for four days from 12.01am, Thursday 5 September to 11.59pm, Sunday 8 September.
