Nominations open for Australian of Year Awards

Peter Gutwein,Premier

Nominations for the 2022 Australian of the Year Awards are now open, and all Tasmanians are encouraged to recognise the achievements of those who inspire us and make a nomination.

The awards are an appropriate forum to recognise our role models who motivate us through their achievements and help make our State the best place in the world to live.

The last year has been like no other, and with Tasmania's recovery well underway, this is a great time to celebrate our amazing State and the people that make it that way.

Earlier this year our own Grace Tame became the first Tasmanian to be awarded the honour of Australian of the Year, in recognition of her powerful advocacy for survivors of sexual assault.

It only takes one nomination for someone to be considered for the Australian of the Year Awards, and I ask Tasmanians to reflect on who you admire and celebrate their work, achievements and inspiring stories by nominating.

Nominations close on 31 July 2021 and can be done through https://australianoftheyear.org.au/nominate/.
