Northern Police attend two significant incidents overnigh, Tasmania Police sayt
Northern detectives are investigating two serious incidents overnight.
Shooting
At 9.10pm on Tuesday evening Deloraine Police were called to the Deloraine Medical Centre where an 11-year-old girl was being treated for a suspected gunshot wound to her head.
The young girl was subsequently transported the Launceston General Hospital and then the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Her condition was initially listed as critical, but has stabilised this morning.
This investigation is still continuing however at this early stage police will be alleging, as a result of a dispute, a 25-year-old Deloraine man has discharged a firearm at a vehicle in Stagg Court, Deloraine causing the injuries to the young girl. The 25-year-old man is currently in police custody however has not been formally interviewed at this stage.
Further investigations involving interviewing witnesses and forensic analysis are ongoing.
Launceston CIB would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed an altercation in Stagg Court, Deloraine overnight.
