Territory major events score 10 finalist spots in global awards

Events delivered by Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC) have been named as finalists 10 times in the prestigious international Eventex Awards 2023.

Parrtjima - A Festival in Light 2022 is in the running for six awards, while BASSINTHEGRASS Music Festival 2022 is a finalist for two awards, as is the Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round 2022.

Parrtjima is a finalist for best Australian/Oceanian Event, best Outdoor Event, best Public Event, best Cultural Event, best Local Solution Event, and best Positive Change Event.

BASSINTHEGRASS is a finalist for best Australian/Oceanian Event and Best Festival Event, and the Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round is in the running for Best Cultural Event and best Positive Change Event.

All three are huge economic drivers for the Territory, with Parrtjima - A Festival in Light 2022 generating a total expenditure stimulus of more than $14.7 million for the economy, $11.9 million of which was new money to the region.

BASSINTHEGRASS 2022 generated $15.8 million, $11.1 million of which was new money. Last year's festival also attracted a record crowd of nearly 16,000.

The 2022 Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round attracted 40,448 attendances, and generated a total expenditure stimulus of $28.4 million, 75 per cent ($21.3 million) of which was new money to the Territory.

Founded in 2009 to celebrate creativity, innovation and effectiveness in the events industry, the Eventex Awards are highly prized across the international world of events, and recognise the best agencies, events and technology. This year there were 761 entries in the awards from 49 countries. The winners will be announced on 16 May, 2023.
