Nourishing Neighbourhoods Seeks Year Two Partners

The Nourishing Neighbourhoods Partnership, a VicHealth‑funded initiative supporting a stronger and more resilient local food system across Mitchell Shire and Murrindindi Shire, is inviting expressions of interest for its second year. The three‑year project (June 2025-December 2028) aims to ensure all residents can access fresh, affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food while strengthening community connection, environmental health and the local economy.

In its first year, the partnership supported a range of community‑led projects, including:

  • Seymour Neighbourhood House upgrading its kitchen to deliver up to 100 hot meals each week
  • Broadford Community Garden running practical workshops on food growing and cooking
  • Love in Action Broadford purchasing large cooler boxes for food‑relief delivery and delivering food‑safety training
  • The Centre developing a 110‑hour Introduction to Food Growing & Sustainability training program

Expressions of interest are now open for Year Two, beginning 1 July 2026. Eligible groups include:

  • Community gardens
  • Neighbourhood houses
  • Schools
  • Market farmers
  • Food‑growing or sustainability educators
  • Crop and seed swap organisers
  • Food‑relief organisations (funding cannot be used to purchase food)
  • Individuals or groups involved in the local food system

Community groups and organisations across Mitchell Shire and Murrindindi Shire are encouraged to complete the online survey to express their interest. The survey closes Tuesday 13 May at 7pm.
