Townsville Showgrounds is set to come alive this Friday and Saturday for North Queensland's premier agricultural showcase - NQ Field Days.
Supported by Townsville City Council and proudly delivered by the Rotary Clubs of Townsville, the biennial event continues to shine a spotlight the strength and diversity of the region's agricultural sector while creating valuable opportunities for local businesses and visitors alike.
Townsville Mayor Nick Dametto said NQ Field Days brings together industry leaders, innovators and the community for two days of connection, innovation and opportunity.
"Townsville City Council is proud to back events like NQ Field Days that celebrate our region's key industries while providing important economic and community benefits," Cr Dametto said.
"NQ Field Days highlights the vital role agriculture plays in North Queensland and helps drive visitation to our city, supporting local businesses, tourism operators, accommodation providers and hospitality venues."
Council is supporting the event through its grants program to the tune of $13,000, reinforcing its commitment to supporting events that deliver strong outcomes for the region.
Rotary NQ Field Days Chair, Shane Smith said the event continues to evolve, offering even greater value for industry professionals, exhibitors and attendees in 2026.
"NQ Field Days is a must-attend event for anyone involved in agriculture or regional industries, and the big news is that with the sale of our latest site this year's event is the biggest NQ Field Days since Rotary Clubs of Townsville took over," Mr Smith said.
"We have everything from robotic dogs rounding up sheep to normal things you'd expect like machinery and equipment, as well as entertainment with a lot of fun activities too.
"Townsville really is a big country town so it's great our community can get the opportunity to come out and see for themselves the value of our agriculture industry."
This year's event is expected to attract thousands of visitors from across North Queensland and beyond, with a strong turnout of around 150 exhibitors showcasing innovations in farming equipment, sustainability practices, agri-tech and rural services.
"I wouldn't miss a Field Day, it is more than just an industry event – it's a hub of activity where business is done, ideas are shared and partnerships are formed," Mr Smith said.
"With the cost-of-living crisis we have decided to set entry at only $5 and kids under five are free when accompanied by an adult. The best part is Rotary Clubs of Townsville distribute all proceeds that are made from this fantastic event right here within our community. So come on down and check it out."
