NSW Health confirms the advice for residents of the Sydney Metropolitan, Nepean Blue Mountains and Central Coast regions to not visit friends and family in aged care facilities will continue through this weekend. This decision has been reached after careful consideration of the risks of COVID-19 being introduced into an aged care facility while the CBD cluster is brought under control.

While we understand and acknowledge this will be difficult for many families on Father's Day, our priority is to prevent the spread of the virus to the most vulnerable people in the community. We encourage people to make the best of the COVID safe measures the aged care sector has put in place to make contact with their loved ones, including through audio visual links and window visits.

NSW Health is treating 87 COVID-19 cases, including seven in intensive care, four of whom are being ventilated. Eighty-five per cent of cases being treated by NSW Health are in non-acute, out-of-hospital care.

A confirmed case attended New Brighton Golf Club, 43 Brickmakers Drive, Moorebank, while infectious on Friday 28 August 2020. Anyone who was at the club for two hours or more between 6.15pm and 12.30am is considered a close contact and must be tested for COVID-19 and self-isolate for 14 days - until midnight on 11 September - and stay isolated even if this test result is negative.

Other patrons who were there should monitor for symptoms. If symptoms appear, they should get tested and isolate until they received a negative result. NSW Health is conducting further assessments and will provide further information to other patrons if deemed close contacts.

Anyone who attended the following venues at the specified times should monitor for symptoms. If symptoms appear, they should get tested and isolate until they received a negative result:

  • Aldi North Strathfield, 20 George St North Strathfield - Tuesday 1 September 2020, 10:00am-10:30am
  • Bunnings Padstow, 88 Fairford Rd Padstow - Thursday 27 August 2020, 12:00pm-2:00pm

COVID-19 continues to circulate in the community and we must all be vigilant. To help stop the spread of COVID-19:
  • If you are unwell, get tested and isolate right away- don't delay.
  • Wash your hands regularly. Take hand sanitiser with you when you go out.
  • Keep your distance. Leave 1.5 metres between yourself and others.
  • Wear a mask on public transport, ride share, taxis, shopping, places of worship and other places where you can't physically distance.
