NSW Liberals Back Sikh Community at Austral Gurudwara

Candidate for Leppington, Therese Fedeli, and Liberal Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves welcome the announcement that a re-elected NSW Liberal Government will support the Sikh community in Leppington by investing $20,000 into Austral Gurudwara community's Sikh Mission Centre.

The $20,000 commitment will be to support the centre in constructing a new dining hall to support the centre's growing community.

Liberal Member for Camden Peter Sidgreaves said for decades the Sikh Mission Centre has been a strong part of community, and I am very pleased to see this funding committed." Mr Sidgreaves said.

Candidate for Leppington, Therese Fedeli, said the Perrottet Liberal team, through supporting cultural and religious diversity, empowers our local community and makes NSW stronger.

Sikh Mission Centre Secretary Bawa Singh Jagdev welcomed the commitment from the NSW Liberals and Nationals.

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet said centres such as this one are incredibly important community facilities, particularly for the state's diverse communities.

"The NSW Liberals and Nationals recognise the important role religious groups and organisations play in bringing people together, and fostering stronger relationships within our communities," Mr Perrottet said.

"We want to empower communities to continue doing the work they do, and help them become stronger, which is why we are wanting to commit this funding to support the local Sikh community in Leppington."

Sikh Mission Centre Secretary Bawa Singh Jagdev welcomed the commitment from the NSW Liberals and Nationals.

"We have a growing Sikh community and this commitment will help us construct a new dining hall where we can bring people together in a fun and social environment," they said.

"Our centre is about bringing people from all walks of life together with our Sikh community, and we thank the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government for making this investment."
