NSW Property Industry Leads National Innovation Awards

NSW projects, people and teams won 11 of the Awards' 19 national categories, spanning affordable housing, mixed-use development, offices, sustainability, student accommodation, public art, workplace design and development innovation.

The night was capped by Martin Place Integrated Station Development, which was named both NSW Development of the Year and Australian Development of the Year, while also winning Best Mixed Use Development and Best Sustainable Development - Commercial.

Property Council NSW Executive Director Katie Stevenson said the results put the depth and diversity of the NSW property industry firmly on the national stage.

"NSW has absolutely shone this year, and these awards are a fantastic recognition of the people, partnerships and ideas shaping the future of our state," Ms Stevenson said.

"What stands out is the breadth of that success. NSW winners stretch from affordable housing at Macquarie Park and student accommodation at Kensington, to a new workplace at Martin Place, public art across the Sydney Metro network and the first building in our newest city at Bradfield.

"These are projects that solve problems, lift the quality of our built environment and show what can be achieved when ambition, investment and great design come together.

"None demonstrates that better than the Martin Place Integrated Station Development, which has taken out Australia's top development honour.

"This is an extraordinarily complex project that brought a new metro station together with two commercial towers, retail and public space in the heart of Sydney, while respecting the heritage and character of Martin Place."

The integrated precinct took 10 million hours of work by more than 10,000 people over six years of construction. It delivers 92,000 square metres of premium office space across two commercial towers, with the station itself integrated into the buildings above.

"It is city-shaping development in the truest sense. It combines transport, workplaces, heritage, sustainability, retail and public space to breathe new life into one of Australia's most important civic and commercial precincts," Ms Stevenson said.

Paul Skinner, NSW Managing Director, RLB, principal sponsors of the Innovation and Excellence Awards said the Martin Place Integrated Station Development project showcased the strength of collaboration and collective expertise at every step.

"For the RLB team, supporting this vision from concept to completion has been complex and rewarding. The project heralds a new era for transport-oriented design.

"Congratulations to every NSW winner and finalist, and to the thousands of people across our industry whose work sits behind these projects.

"These awards are a reminder that when we back good ideas, great design and investment, our property industry can deliver places that stand among the best in the world."

The Innovation & Excellence Awards have celebrated outstanding Australian property projects since 1982 and recognise excellence across 19 award categories.
