NSW SES Operational Update Monday 4 August 2025

NSW SES

NSW State Emergency Service (SES) crews were kept busy over the weekend, responding to flooding, storm damage and snow impacts after a complex low-pressure system moved across the Northern and Central NSW coast and ranges.

Since the onset of the severe weather, NSW SES has received more than 3,600 calls and responded to 2,092 incidents, including 25 flood rescues.

The NSW SES has issued an Emergency Warning for major flooding along the Namoi River at Gunnedah, and people in low-lying properties have been asked to evacuate. Further evacuation warnings are possible throughout Monday.

At Tamworth, the Peel River peaked just below the major flood level, with moderate flooding continuing this morning.

In the Upper Hunter, an Emergency Warning for parts of Raymond Terrace advises people to evacuate. A moderate flood warning remains for the Hunter River at Denman, which peaked just below major overnight it has now fallen below moderate thresholds.

Minor flood warnings are current for the Manning, Gloucester, Macleay, Severn, Paterson, Williams, and Gwydir Rivers.

There are still more than 50 warnings current for residents across the Mid North Coast, Upper Hunter and New England regions.

More than 1,500 volunteers were activated to respond throughout the state, while helicopters and high clearance vehicles were deployed to impacted areas.

The severe weather warning has been cancelled, and conditions are forecast to remain settled today, but riverine rises remain a risk as floodwater moves downstream.
