Heavy rainfall and damaging winds are set to continue for another 48 hours in the Shoalhaven, Illawarra, Sydney and Blue Mountains.
This afternoon, heavy rainfall is causing flash flooding in Mona Vale and Palm Beach and a severe weather warning has been issued for the Northern Beaches.
Severe thunderstorms are also likely in the Central Coast and Mid North Coast regions, which could cause isolated rainfall of up to 120mm in the next 24 hours, as well as strong winds and hail.
About 750 NSW SES volunteers are on the ground responding to impacts of thunderstorms, with most of the impacts over the last 48 hours being felt in the South Coast, Illawarra, Sydney and Hunter regions.
In Moruya, almost 200mm of rain fell in the 48 hours to 9am on Saturday, with local crews responding to 30 incidents for leaking rooves, trees down and flash flooding.
NSW SES State Duty Commander, Acting Assistant Commissioner Sonya Oyston encouraged people to stay alert and across the latest warnings and information as rainfall continued.
"We're starting to see many catchments become wet and we have already seen the impacts of flash flooding right across the coast and ranges, so it's important people take the necessary precautions don't become complacent," Acting Assistant Commissioner Oyston said.
"As people enjoy their holidays in communities they aren't familiar with, it's important they think about where their camp may be set up and move themselves away from under trees and next to waterways, including estuaries and creeks."
Among the incidents in the last 24 hours are flood rescues in Albion Park, Picton and Marulan for people in vehicles trapped by flash flooding.
Overnight on Friday, NSW SES crews also assisted NSW Police in a search and rescue at Geehi in the Snowy Mountains after a call for help from three campers, one of whom was suspected to have hypothermia.
