New Key Health Worker accommodation in Dubbo has reached a key milestone, following the appointment of HPAC Pty Ltd as the main works contractor.
The new 30 modular housing units will be built on the Dubbo Hospital campus and help attract and retain more healthcare workers to the region, with construction expected to begin in the coming months once designs are finalised.
HPAC Pty Ltd has been awarded the contract following a competitive tender process.
Dubbo is one of the more than 20 Key Health Worker Accommodation projects in rural, regional and remote NSW, as part of the Minns Labor Government's $200.1 million program.
The program funding will support the building of new accommodation, refurbishment of existing living quarters, and the purchase of suitable properties such as residential units.
The Key Health Worker Accommodation Program will deliver accommodation for health workers across nine local health districts, including Western NSW.
This investment builds on the $45.3 million in accommodation for key healthcare workers in the Murrumbidgee, Southern NSW, and Far West Local Health Districts, which is now complete with all accommodation delivered and fully operational.

Quotes attributable to WNSWLHD Director Corporate Services & Clinical Support Jeff Morrissey:
"Being able to provide fit-for-purpose, sustainable housing and accommodation is a vital aspect of our ongoing commitment to support and build our healthcare workforce across the district.
"Healthcare staff work shifts day and night so offering them a safe and comfortable place to stay which meets their needs is very important. The site is on the Dubbo hospital grounds too, adding that extra convenience for our staff.
"Whether it's a new team member in the process of moving to Dubbo, staff on short-term contracts or trainees, these new units will be a real drawcard for our recruitment and retention efforts.
