Pause elective surgery and day surgery

Elective surgery and day surgery will be temporarily postponed at some NT Health hospitals as required. This will be monitored and adjusted as needed in accordance with hospital requirements to manage the COVID-19 response.

This measure will ease pressure on the health system and ensure the resources required to manage acute COVID-19 cases in hospitals are maintained during the current outbreak.

All emergency surgery will continue unaffected.

Public health measures

To slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and reduce the rate of transmission the following public health measures are in place across the NT:

  • A lock-in for Ampilatwatja, Milikapiti, Galiwin'ku, Milingimbi Island and Palumpa until 2pm on Sunday 6 February and for Lajamanu until 5pm on Monday 7 February
  • A Territory-wide mask mandate (indoors and outdoors)
  • The Territory Vaccine Pass.

COVID-19 testing

Everyone should get tested for COVID-19 if showing symptoms. A number of NT Rapid Antigen Testing and Distribution Points have been established.

To reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading in our communities, it is important for everyone to follow all the health directions:

  • Book your COVID-19 vaccine
  • Check in using The Territory Check In App every time, everywhere
  • If you have symptoms, stay away from others and get tested for COVID-19
  • Wash your hands with soap and water and use hand sanitiser regularly
  • Do not go to work if you feel sick
  • Maintain a physical distance of 1.5 metres where possible.
