NT Covid update Milikapiti enters 72 hour lockdown

Milikapiti entered a lockdown from 3pm today for at least the next 72 hours. This is to undertake a testing blitz and help manage the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

An additional 12 cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Milikapiti since the last update, bringing the total number to 18.

During a lockdown, residents must stay at home and are only permitted to leave for the following four reasons:

  1. Medical treatment, including COVID testing and vaccination
  2. For essential goods and services, like groceries, medications or power tokens. Only one household member should visit the store, once per day
  3. For one hour of outdoor exercise a day within 5 km from your home with one other person or people from your house
  4. To provide care and support to a family member or person who cannot support themselves, or in the case of an emergency.

Essential workers who are fully vaccinated can continue to go to work.

Anyone who has been in Milikapiti in the last seven days and left the area must undertake a Rapid Antigen Test in the next 24 hours, unless they have already returned a negative test since exiting.

Lockdowns are also in place in Gunyangara, Utopia Homelands and Wurrumiyanga until Saturday 29 January and in Galiwin’ku until Monday 31 January.

Lockouts are in place in Alice Springs, Amoonguna, Yuendumu, and Yuelamu until Sunday 30 January.

Everyone should get tested for COVID-19 if showing symptoms. A number of NT Rapid Antigen Testing and Distribution Points have been established. Individuals can collect RATs for free from NT distribution centres located in Darwin, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek.

It is critical all people check-in using The Territory Check In App everywhere, every time, no matter how long you are there for.

To reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading in our communities, it is important for everyone to follow all the health directions:

  • Book your COVID-19 vaccine
  • Check in using The Territory Check In App every time, everywhere
  • If you have symptoms, stay away from others and get tested for COVID-19
