The Marshall Liberal Government is recruiting around 370 nursing and midwifery positions across Adelaide's metropolitan health networks, bringing a massive boost to the workforce.
Minister for Health and Wellbeing Stephen Wade said the recruitment drive will build more capacity across health services and support the ongoing COVID-19 response.
"Our hospitals and health services provide world-class health care to South Australians and our nurses and midwives are a critical part of ensuring we deliver that," said Minister Wade.
"The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted that a strong health care system is essential and the Marshall Liberal Government is committed to continuing to grow our workforce and support our health networks to provide the best care to South Australians, closer to their home.
"Recruiting 370 positions within our nursing and midwifery workforce will provide an important boost to our current, hard-working staff and ensure we are in good stead to meet the ongoing and future healthcare needs of South Australians.
"The positions will target priority roles in emergency departments, intensive care units and mental health, while also supporting our strong response to COVID-19 and the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine.
"There are more frontline health staff in South Australia right now than ever before and we want to grow that number even further to support the state's COVID-19 response."
The recruitment drive includes 120 registered nursing, midwifery and enrolled nursing positions available across the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, 150 positions across the Central Adelaide Local Health Network and 100 positions across the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network.
Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officer Jenny Hurley said there are casual, full time and part time positions available across hospital and community-based services.
