Police are attending a fatal crash on State Highway 1 at Kauri, in Whangārei.
Multiple vehicles are understood to be involved; the State Highway is currently closed and will likely remain closed for some time.
The collision happened about 4.10pm, between Saleyards Road and Richards Road.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating and detours are in place.
